I've definitely tried a lot of new things with Let Me In. It's really my first time writing a more fast, hard-hitting song for The Ivory Sleep. It's also the first time I explored a harsher range in my voice. Who knew I had it in me? My favourite part of the song (if you can't tell) was the key/tempo change. The moment I wrote it, I knew something special was happening.
In its purest essence, Let Me In is a break-up song. I know I'm taking huge risks writing songs about a specific person who manipulated and abused my trust. One of those risks is that person is going to eventually come across these songs and victimize herself. It's an inevitability that I've come to terms with after realizing that's just the person she is. Let Me Is is about seeing someone for who they truly are, but also imploring them that manipulating others is a sad, sad way to live life.
lyrics
Tell me, tell me, leading lady
Can you see your beauty fading
Underneath that facade you wear so well?
Tell me.
So tell me, tell me, baby, baby
Did you like all of those pet names
Even though you hate that romantic shit?
You're right; I over-react
So oblige me with your truths and facts
And don't you just love making a scene?
You're not an actress; you're a drama queen
Do you act and dress up to pretend
You are someone who you're not?
Does it make you sick to see what you become?
What would it take for you to get over yourself and start to listen
To the words I'm trying to say?
Won't you just...
What would you do if you listened to these songs?
Would you tell them I'm wrong?
Would you tell them I'm wrong?
You can't save face behind a mask
What would it take for you to get over yourself and start to listen
To the words I'm dying to say?
Won't you just...
Let me in
Let me in
Won't you just
Let me in
Let me in
So!
(Tell me, tell me)
All the reasons why it's alright
When you broke my heart and broke my boundaries
And now I'm petty?
At least I'm not a hypocrite
(Tell me, tell me)
How it feels when someone hurts you
(Like how you hurt me, like how you hurt me)
Well now, who's wrong?
Who do you think you are?
What would you do if you listened to these songs?
Would you tell them I'm wrong?
Would you tell them I'm wrong?
You can't save face behind a mask
Let me in, let me in, let me in!
Let me in
Let me in
Won't you just
Let me in
Let me in

My biggest inspiration as a singer/songwriter. Amazing guitar work, great vocals, and an unparalleled eclecticism that is unheard of now. Seriously, listen to this album. The Ivory Sleep
If you pride yourself as a modern metal (I'm avoiding using "djent") guitarist and you haven't heard of Intervals, you should be simply ashamed. Best solos and leads in the genre, hands down. The Ivory Sleep
